Our Scope of Services

Saving The World One Pen At A Time

Please note that all prices are a guide for your estimating purposes and only upon inspection can an actual quote be given. In the vintage world, parts are not always easy to come by and may need adjusting – or even fabrication to suit each particular job.

We strive, where possible to repair/restore all pens with OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts and the market for these is not at all consistent. Even when quoted, we reserve the right to, upon consultation with you, adjust the prices as necessary.

Please note:
PenDen will charge a $30.00 inspection fee for the first 3 pens you bring for assessment. Should you wish to proceed with repairs, this fee will be credited to your final bill.

We only do work on fountain pens.
No ballpoints, rollerballs or pencils, please.

OUR PROCESS

Fountain Pens are often very personal items. These are what many of us turn to when we need time and space to communicate with ourselves, others, the universe… I can compare it to an artist’s instrument; a violin, guitar, maybe a piccolo or trumpet. Or a voice. It is our instrument which gives our voice a sense of stability, permanence; that it not be lost on the ether, but remain, at least long enough for a reflection, or a fond memory.

As such, when you trust PenDen.ca with your fine, or sadly abused instrument, we will take the time to assess and hear your wishes for this pen. You may just want it to write without fuss, you may want it to look like it did when it was presented to you on some occasion, or you may want to have it as a memento of a loved one, and for it to be useable should you choose.

However you want your pen to service you, we will do our utmost to ensure that it meets your expectations. Sometimes it is not possible to bring your pen up to the standard that you wish, sometimes it requires more work, parts, or expense than you are prepared for, and sometimes, despite all our care and attention, the pen utterly fails and is for nothing but scrap. However, we proceed, know that you will always be consulted should things change substantially in the process, or expenses appear that they may exceed our estimate.

Should you choose to ship a pen to me, please ensure that it is well packaged, utilizing cushioning, a box, and insurance. Please also include a note with your contact information, return address and what you require in services. Often, just a printout of our email communication is all I need to proceed. Should we require any further information, we will contact you and proceed accordingly. Return postage is in addition to any charges and will be invoiced at our cost.

We hope to be of service.
