We are firmly into the second month of 2026, and our site is surprising us in all the best ways. Sharon puts so much effort into creating and maintaining our little venture that I really don’t feel I can express my gratitude enough. But I try.
Our customer list is expanding to all corners of our Home and Native Land. Many clients have sent us lovely cards, notes and emails expressing their appreciation and satisfaction. We both are thrilled! Your trust means so much to us.
If you’ve read any of our posts, you know how much we enjoy hearing about your love of writing instruments and their personal stories. We do our best to ensure you have not misplaced that trust because we really do think of you as friends… or friends we have not yet met. Always know that we have a great selection of Murchie’s and other teas, and Salt Spring dark roast coffee is always ready to be poured.
We are looking forward to our local Vancouver Pen Club meet at Vancouver Pen Shop (no relation) on February 21st, and visiting the great people there, wine optional.
The price of precious metals has surprised us and caused some angst over its impact on pen restoration work. We expected some volatility from the consequences of the Bankrupt Bloatus, but this rocket has really launched. Consequently, we are seeing a considerable increase in the number of pen bodies on the market denuded of their nibs. We may be forced to consider adjusting our pricing to reflect the replacement value of our gold nib inventory.
We continue to search for collections and pen lots that have fallen into closets and storage bins, so keep us in mind should you have old stuff (please, not new or ballpoints and such). We need parts and pens to sacrifice and resurrect the treasures that others may value, so future stylophiles can be fed.
We received a call yesterday from the son of a well-known local pen collector who recently passed away. The family is hoping we can assist with finding homes for their father’s large pen collection. We are heading there today for an initial assessment with hopes of adding some wonderful items to the website in the coming days.
Looking forward, we have reserved a covered picnic space at Deas Island Regional Park for June 14. So, if you find yourself in the Vancouver area, there will be many tables and collectors hanging out in the beautiful green of Delta, BC. You will be welcome. Check back to the website for details closer to the date!
Time marches, and we are working hard to keep up with this ongoing concern called PenDen that has been my dream for many years. I am busy in the shop virtually every day which is my happy place. Music, coffee, pens, and even the occasional hug. Life is good.
